LIBRARIES, museums and archive services will be operating a revised service across Chester and Cheshire over the Christmas period.
Cheshire West and Chester Council's has confirmed libraries will close at 1pm on Saturday, December 23 until Tuesday, December 26.
Ellesmere Port, Frodsham, Neston, Northwich, Sandiway, Upton and Winsford libraries will open as usual from Wednesday, December 27 to Saturday, December 30, closing on December 31 and January 1, before re-opening on January 2, 2024.
Other libraries, except for those listed below will close throughout the festive period, re-opening January 2.
Storyhouse will close Christmas Day and New Year's Day and then open as follows during the festive period: December- 24, 9.30am-8pm; December 26, 10am-9pm; December 27-30, normal opening hours; December 31, 9.30am-8pm;
Malpas Library, based within a high school, will close at 5pm on December 21 and re-open January 9.
Tarporley Library, based within a high school will close at 7pm on December 21 and re-open January 4.
Hoole Library will close at 4pm on December 22 and re-open January 2.
The Mobile Library will not undertake any routes week beginning December 25 through to January 1.
Cabinet Member for a Fairer Future (Poverty, Public Health and Mental Health), Councillor Lisa Denson, said: "During opening times libraries are part of the Council's Warm, Welcoming Spaces network, providing a space for you to stay warm and safe.
"Come along and join the library for free and take advantage of the wide range of books, eBooks. There are also refreshments and free access to Wi-Fi as well as public computers and everyone is welcome to join in with library events and activities that are taking place."
The Council's museums will be operating a revised service over the Christmas period. Lion Salt Works, Grosvenor Museum and Weaver Hall will be closed on Saturday, December 23 to Wednesday, December 27, and on Monday, January 1, 2024. They are open on Thursday, December 28 to Sunday, December 31, and then Tuesday, January 2 onwards.
The Cheshire Record Office will be closed from Friday, December 22 to Monday, January 1, 2024, inclusive. Online services are unaffected.
