AN EXHIBITION of images from the photographers of the future is on display in Chester city centre.
Final year students from the BA Photography programme at the University of Chester will exhibit their ‘work in-progress' at the CASC Gallery - Contemporary Art Space Chester - project at Castlefield Gallery New Art Spaces: Chester.
The work paves the way for the development of the students’ final year project which will be displayed in the Department of Art and Design Degree Show exhibition in June 2024.
Embracing different approaches to photographic art and industry practices, this cohort of students have produced work which includes themes such as the representation of women, performance, gender and LGBTQ+ identities, motherhood, the archetypal road trip and mapping, still life (advertising) photography, wildlife photography, selfhood and the impact of social media.
Dr Cian Quayle, Associate Professor and Programme Leader for BA Photography, said: "It’s really interesting to see the projects of our final year students exhibited at what is a critical staging point for their projects. The exhibition is open to all to see how their diverse approaches to photographic practice evolves from this point onwards into the new year."
The gallery, which is located inside the Grosvenor Shopping Centre, will be open from 10am to 4pm on December 15, 16, 18, 20, 22, 23 and January 3, 5, 6, 8 and 10.
