A LACHE man has received a driving ban after admitting being over the drug-drive limit and being in possession of cocaine.
Paul Woodall, 31, of Cliveden Road, pleaded guilty to both offences when he appeared at Chester Magistrates Court.
Lisa Maguire, prosecuting, said that Woodall was stopped in a Vauxhall van on the Five Ashes Road on May 28, after police officers were provided with information that he may have been driving under the influence.
He tested positive for benzoylecgonine, a breakdown product of cocaine, with 491 micrograms per litre of blood – the legal limit for driving being 50.
A small wrap of cocaine was also found on his person.
Richard Sibeon, defending, said Woodall was co-operative with the police, pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and there were no aggravating features.
“He had been out at the weekend”, Mr Sibeon said.
“He’s fully aware of the consequences and will have to rely on other people now for lifts.”
Chair of the magistrates bench Olga Randall banned Woodall from driving for 12 months.
He will also pay a £400 fine covering both offences, on top of £120 court costs and a £160 victim surcharge.
