PLANS to reopen the site of the former Cruise nightclub in Chester city centre have taken a step forward.
The new owner of the St John Street building has lodged a new application to license the premises after the previous licence lapsed.
Once a thriving venue with three separate floors each with their own bar, Cruise, closed in early 2023 after 15 years.
The venue had been a regular spot in the city for celebrity guests including the likes of Olly Murs and Made in Chelsea's Georgia Toffolo, together with a popular student night.
Previous owners, Preston-based Odysian Ltd, entered insolvency in 2022, prompting them to announce that Cruise would close temporarily. A resolution was later passed that Odysian would cease trading.
Now the new owners, OPH Investco Ltd, are seeking to have a new premises licence which includes late-night provision for opening until 4am, as well as provision for live music, recorded music, dance performances and films.
The application will be decided by Cheshire West and Chester Council at a later date.
