A PENSIONER who died after being hit by a train at a Cheshire railway station has been named.
Colin Parry, 73, was named after an inquest was opened on Wednesday to investigate their death.
Area Coroner Victoria Davis confirmed the cause of death was considered ‘unnatural’ and opened the inquest, setting dates for an inquest and case management later this year.
Parry, who lived on Upton Lane in Widnes, died after being struck by a train at Widnes Railway Station on Friday, January 5.
Emergency services rushed to Widnes station at around 10.45am following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
His death was later confirmed by British Transport Police.
At the time, a spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
An inquest date has been set for later this year on May 3, 2024.
