A SHARED ownership housing development in Cheshire has come to an end.
Platform Home Ownership has announced the final homes have now been handed over to the new occupants at the Hazelmere development, in Haslington, just over two miles to the east of Crewe.
The scheme comprises a collection of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes built by developer Bovis Homes, part of the Vistry Group.
Shared ownership allows home seekers to purchase a share of their home and pay rent on the remaining amount, typically buying between 10% and 75% of the property’s full market value, depending on the model purchased with.
This lowers the amount needed for a deposit, with most deposits on Shared Ownership schemes between 5% and 10% of the share and not the full amount.
Between April 2021, and March 2022, Platform sold 563 shared ownership properties, which is a 55% increase, owing to the increased popularity of the route to home ownership.
Through the process of staircasing, those using shared ownership can gradually increase the amount of their home that they own.
Freya Halsall, marketing manager for Bovis Homes, said: “We’re delighted with the success of these fantastic homes at Hazelmere, and our partnership with Platform has been exemplary.
“These properties are in a superb location for commuters, first-time buyers and many more types of homeowner, so to see the development become so popular is no surprise.”
Kelly Rigley, regional sales manager at Platform, said: “We’re thrilled to have sold out here at Hazelmere, and know that the new occupants have found an ideal place to settle down in such high-quality properties.
“We’d like to place on record our thanks to Bovis Homes as we draw this development to a close, and look forward to working together in the future should the opportunity arise.”
