A Chester charity is celebrating the end of a three-year recovery project with a performance heralding spring.

Dancers from Fallen Angels Dance Theatre will perform Equinox at Storyhouse on Tuesday, February 27 at 2pm, part of their Spreading Wings project. Tickets for the event are free and bookable via the charity’s website at fallenangelsdt.org.

A focus group, members of the company who are all in recovery from addiction or mental health struggles, have been working closely with artistic director Paul Bayes Kitcher to develop the piece.

Paul said: “It has been a real joy to work with this small focus group to create our latest work.

“Addiction is a complex and often devastating condition – it can feel isolating, with individuals battling against their own personal storms. However, as winter eventually gives way to spring, recovery offers hope and the possibility of a new beginning.

“Like the first signs of life emerging from the snow, the journey towards overcoming addiction can be a beautiful and transformative process, bringing warmth and renewed vitality to those who embrace it.”

Equinox is set to the Vilvadi’s Four Seasons, recomposed by Max Richter, and the performance will be followed by an insight into the development of the piece and a Q&A. There will also be refreshments, creative activities and networking opportunities.

Fallen Angels Dance Theatre is company-in-residence at Storyhouse and the Spreading Wings project was made possible through funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.
