A German-themed axe throwing venue is planning to open its doors in Chester.
Axt haus Ltd has submitted a licensing application to Cheshire West and Chester Council for the new venue, which would be located in the renovated Railway Arches section of Kitchen Street, the other side of the railway bridge from Chester Racecourse.
The company, set up by experienced Chester hospitality sector worker Natasha Scovell and Andrew Benyon, says in the application description: "The venue will be a German-themed axe throwing venue offering a limited food menu and a selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks."
Axe throwing is an activity growing in popularity and sees competitors take part in groups, throwing an axe at a target with the aim of hitting a bullseye. Axes used are typically similar to a Native American Tomahawk.
Maximum opening hours proposed by the venue are 10am-11pm on Mondays-Fridays, 9am-11pm on Saturdays and 9am-1pm on Sundays. Recorded music would be played at the venue at the manager's discretion, mainly at a background level.
The premises licence consultation will conclude on March 22.
