A CHESTER-BASED holiday accommodation business has raised £40,000 by taking on a nail-biting fire walk.
More than 80 colleagues from Sykes Holiday Cottages and its parent company, Forge Holiday Group, completed the walk outside One City Place, helping to raise £20,000 for their charity partners.
The on-the-night total will now be matched by Forge Holiday Group, bringing the total donated to good causes to £40,000, including charities such as Hospice of the Good Shepherd and Mind.
Organised by UK Firewalk, team members walked across hot coals bare foot while being supported by their family and friends who had been invited to cheer them on from the sidelines.
Scott Bell, a twice holder of the Guinness World Record for the greatest fire walking distance, helped colleagues prepare for the event where the hot coals reached up to 610 degrees.
Graham Donoghue, CEO of Forge Holiday Group, said: “We were looking to kick start our 2024 fundraising efforts with something a little different and fire walking certainly falls within that category.
“It was great to see so many of our colleagues take part in this unique event which tested their bravery while raising amazing amounts for our charity partners.”
