Plans to open a new pizza restaurant in Chester city centre have moved a step forward after shopfitting works were granted permission.
American Pizza Slice, which currently has a restaurant in Liverpool, previously lodged applications to renovate the interior of the Grade II-listed building on Bridge Street, at the home of the former Ice Stone Desserts site.
Now Cheshire West and Chester Council has approved the partly retrospective application which was submitted last year.
Documents submitted to the planning department said: "The proposed ground floor restaurant at 59 Bridge Street, Chester, will provide an attractive and accessible dining venue that will enhance the character and vitality of the street.
"The design of the restaurant will be contemporary and stylish, with high-quality finishes and materials. We believe that this development will be a positive addition to the area."
The restaurant would expect to create six full-time jobs and a further 10 part-time.
American Pizza Slice serves classic US-style pizza including Chicago deep dish, crisp New York-style and rectangular Detroit-style.
The American Pizza Slice menu features a range topping choices from traditional Margherita and American Hot to more artisan options including roasted peppers and goat's cheese, 'nduja and halloumi.
The restaurant will be the company's first outside of Liverpool.
