A Chester primary school showcased a Shakespeare classic in a top-quality theatre.
Years 3 and 4 at Cherry Grove Primary School in Boughton were able to put on performances of Hamlet in Storyhouse's Garrett Theatre, as part of the ongoing partnership between Storyhouse and the school.
Deputy head at the school Thomas Spencer explained how the team effort was a great experience for all at the school.
He said: "As part of our partnership with the Storyhouse theatre, the Year 3 and 4 children have been working with teachers and a member of the Storyhouse Outreach team to put on a production of Hamlet.
"We've been lucky enough to use the Garrett theatre for our performances. The children, parents and whole school community have loved the opportunity and experience of performing in a real theatre with Storyhouse staff supporting with lighting, sound and stewarding!
"As part of the project, children in Years 1-6 have worked on performance projects with the Outreach team at Storyhouse.
"As a school, Cherry Grove Primary school and Nursery are always looking for opportunities to enrich the curriculum through exciting experiences and life-changing opportunities."
As part of its commitment to help talented young performers, Storyhouse recently opened its new 'Studio by Storyhouse' at the former Forum Shopping Centre Boots store on Northgate Street. The two-storey space gives the Young Storyhouse team their own bespoke base from which to create work and organise special programmes, events and performances which will then take place at the main Storyhouse site in nearby Hunter Street.
