A YELLOW weather warning for wind is currently in place for Cheshire West.
The warning – which affects much of England, Wales and Northern Ireland – was issued this morning (Monday, April 15) and is set to last for the rest of the day.
Strong winds will affect coastal routes the most, with the possibility for spray overtopping and large waves.
The Met Office have warned that some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely.
Some bus and train services could also be affected, with journeys taking longer.
Cheshire West is expected to be buffeted by wind gusts of up to 45mph throughout the day, with the strongest winds expected in the mid-afternoon (around 2pm to 3pm) and evening (8pm onwards).
Rain is also expected around midday, before a mild afternoon with further rain forecast from 7pm.
Temperatures will likely be in high single figures throughout; however the breeze will make it feel colder still.
The yellow warning for wind is not expected to extend into tomorrow.
