A LIVE music festival is set to make its return to Halton Castle this summer after last year’s huge success.
Castle Calling took place for the first-time last year, bringing Runcorn’s biggest live music festival Halton Castle.
Andy Salter, who came up with the idea to create the music festival, was first inspired after learning about the castle shortly after moving to Runcorn from Chester.
“I really just want to put it on the map,” said Andy.
“It’s a beautiful place with a great history and I just want to make more of its history with music.”
The 42-year-old then got in touch with the management team at Halton Castle to organise the event, which took place between June 23 to June 25 last year.
After such a successful debut event, Andy decided to hold the event again after being approached by the new team at Halton Castle.
This year, it’s been a quick turnaround to get the event organised, but Andy is hoping that this year’s event will still be as successful as the last.
“The pressure is definitely on but so far everything seems to be running smoothly and it’s all in place,” he said.
“We’re lucky that we have last year as a template so we can mimic it because we know it works.”
A variety of acts are set to perform including Aziz Ibrahim, former guitarist for Simply Red and The Stone Roses, and Syfta, a band from Halton.
While the headline act is yet to be announced, Andy hope that this year will be bigger and better than the last.
Plenty of food and drink will also be on offer including a gin bar, ice cream and street food.
This year, the festival will take place at Halton Castle on June 29 and 30 between 1pm and 9pm.
Around 850 tickets will be available for both days from just £12 and can be purchased here.
