Chester's 'queen of networking' Sue France is set to feature in a brand new visual art exhibition ahead of her upcoming retirement.

Ms France, 75, will retire later this year following a decade of helming Creative Connecting in Cheshire, her networking group for business people.

The exhibition, is aimed at honouring her legacy, and it is set to open on Thursday, May 16 at Castle Park Arts Centre in Frodsham.

Over 1,000 women, including local artists, have been beneficiaries of her networking efforts.

Many of these artists, found obstacles in making their work known, and turned toward Sue for assistance.

"When I lost money, paying towards an exhibition space that didn’t materialise, I turned to Sue for help," recounted Sam Robson, co-curator of the exhibition and cancer survivor.

With Ms France's support, these artists began trading success stories, and selling tips.

Recognising Ms France's invaluable role, Ms Robson initiated the visual arts exhibition as a tribute.

The opening of the exhibition bears special significance for Ms Robson, who is based in Weaverham.

She has said: "Hosting such a collaborative, business-like exhibition is a massive moment in my cancer recovery journey.

" The launch event will be the first time I have met most of the other artists in person.

"Sue, with her friendship and encouragement, has given me the confidence that I can make this happen.

"I could not be more grateful."

Set for display in Gallery 3, the exhibition will showcase over 100 art pieces centred around the theme of diversity.

These works, overseen by co-curator Louise Barson from Haughton, have been adjudicated by a selected committee.

Artists like Maggie Hollinshead from Stone, Cathy Mulhern from Knutsford, and Barnton resident Diana Bernice Tackley will feature alongside several others.

Ms France, a former childrenswear designer and a patron of Gift of a Wedding charity, expressed her gratitude to the artists.

Ms France has said: "I am very grateful to Sam and Louise, who was one of my very first members, for all their hard work. in putting on this exhibition.

"I look forward to seeing all the creativity on display and would encourage everyone to come along and support the ladies, as well as the venue, with your attendance.”

The Artists of Sue France Exhibition will remain open from 10am to 4pm on Tuesdays to Saturdays, from 16 May till 22 June.
