A POOR one-star food hygiene rating has been handed to a hotel in Cheshire.

The ratings are issued by the Food Standards Agency and are made publicly available online.

Statham Lodge Hotel in Lymm was visited by inspectors on March 1.

The venue, a hotel which hosts events such as weddings and meetings, and serves food and drink, was handed one out of five stars following the visit.

In terms of the management of food safety, inspectors found that major improvement was necessarily at Statham Lodge Hotel.

While in the hygienic food handling category and the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building category, improvement is necessary, say inspectors.
