AN appeal has been launched following a car crash which resulted in the death of a 31-year-old woman in Oakmere.

Police were called to reports of a collision on the A49 Tarporley Road at around 7.40am on Wednesday, May 22.

Officers attended the scene and found there had been a collision between a white Renault Clio and a HGV, near to the junction of Overdale Lane.

Sadly, the driver of the Clio, a 31-year-old woman from Crewe, died at the scene as a result of the collision. Her family are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the HGV is uninjured.

No arrests have been made at this time and enquiries in relation to the incident are in the early stages.

Sergeant Andy Dennison, of the Serious and Complex Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“The A49 is a busy road and as part of our investigation, we are appealing for anyone who witnessed this collision to get in touch.

“The same goes for anyone who has any dashcam or CCTV footage that may help us determine how this incident occurred.
