New images have been released of a new integrated retirement community being built in Chester.

The images reveal The Wyldewoods, the new retirment community being constructed by Retirement Villages Group (RVG), which also includes public communal spaces.

Both residents and locals will benefit from a host of fresh amenities including a restaurant, cafe, gym, wellness area, a public square, as well as walking and cycling routes around development.

The development forms part of Retirement Villages’ Thrive Living Collection and is strategically positioned more in urban locations to urge residents to take advantage of the transport links in the area.

The collection focuses on backing independent living, promoting wellness and a sense of community.

It provides choices granting the residents easy access to their local area while helping them to stay active as they age.

The collection of images shows the 155 constructed apartments at The Wyldewoods, demonstrating their contemporary design, generous size, lots of natural light, and most with a private balcony.

Simon Dickinson, group sales and marketing director at Retirement Villages Group, expressed his excitement over the development.

He said: "Being able to share a ‘first-look’ of the apartments and the community as a whole, marks an exciting step for The Wyldewoods and we’ve been thrilled by the reaction we had from people so far.

"Our Thrive Living collection looks to challenge the stereotypical view of a retirement community.

"The Wyldewoods will celebrate independence and enable our residents to keep active, both physically and in the community."

The Wyldewoods is nestled on the site of the former Beechmoor Garden Centre on Whitchurch Road, between Christleton and Boughton Heath.

The team exclusively unveiled the new look apartments at a special celebration event with locals and neighbours.

Philip Hearfield, went to have a look at the development and said: "I was very impressed with The Wyldewoods; very modern and definitely not something you’d expect from a retirement community!

"We’re really attracted to living there – for us it’s a lifestyle choice where we can stay active and connected to the local community, but the support is there if we need it in the future."

Set to open late in 2024, The Wyldewoods is anticipated to boost the local economy by an estimated £39m, creating more than 300 jobs in the construction process.

Once operational, it is expected to increase spending in the local area by £1.5 million annually and create 30 full-time jobs.

The Wyldewoods will also champion sustainability as a net-zero carbon development, which will be achieved through the use of high-performance construction materials, efficient heating and hot water generation via air source heat pump technology, on-site renewable energy generation, and carbon offsetting.

Additional features will include a sustainable transport hub equipped with cycle hire and electric vehicle charging points, as well as an electric hire car for residents.
