Roads will be closed around Chester this Sunday as the Deva Triathlon makes its return.
The 26th time the event has been held in the city, run by Chester Triathlon Club, it will see hundreds of athletes swim, pedal and run their way through a challenging course.
Competitors have entered in the Olympic and Middle distances, the latter seeing them swim 1.2 miles in the River Dee, cycle 56 miles around the city, before completing laps totalling a half marathon (13.1 miles).
Here are the road closures people need to be aware of on Sunday, June 2:
From 3am for a maximum duration of 12 hours
Souters Lane – whole length (Little St John Street to The Groves)
From 6am for a maximum duration of 5 hours
Vicars Lane nearside westbound lane – whole length (Love Street to Little St John Street)
Pepper Street nearside westbound lane – Newgate Street to Volunteer Street
Park Street – whole length (Little St John Street to Duke Street)
Duke Street – whole length (Park Street to Lower Bridge Street)
From 6am for a maximum duration of 7 hours:
Grosvenor Park Road nearside westbound lane (including the slip road from Boughton into
Grosvenor Park Road) – from Boughton to Union Street
Union Street nearside westbound lane–from Grosvenor Park Road to Love Street
Lower Bridge Street – Duke Street to Handbridge
Handbridge – Lower Bridge Street to Queens Park Road
Castle Drive – Little Roodee Car Park Entrance to Lower Bridge Street
From 6.30am for a maximum duration of 4 hours
Grosvenor Park Terrace – The Royal Chester Rowing Club entrance to The Groves
The Groves and rear road – Grosvenor Park Terrace to a point approximately 25 metres west of the Suspension Bridge
From 7am for a maximum duration of 5 hours
Chester Road, Churton – Sibbersfield Lane to its southerly junction with Stannage Lane
From 7am for a maximum duration of 6 hours
Christleton Road/Boughton – the nearside westbound lane from Challinor Street to The Bars

Close the gap in the central reservation of Boughton at its junction with Hoole Lane from 7am
Sunday 2nd June for a maximum duration of 6 hours
Prohibit waiting from 5am until 1pm on Sunday 2nd June on Grosvenor Park Road (both sides
including residents parking bays) - A51 The Bars to Bath Street
Prohibit waiting from 5am until 1pm on Sunday 2nd June on the following lengths of road:
Sandy Lane, Boughton (both sides) – from 46 metres south of Christleton Road to 31 metres south of Mortlake Crescent
The Mount (both sides) – Sandy Lane to its easterly junction with Christleton Road
Victoria Crescent, from the Queens Park Suspension Bridge to its junction with Lower Park Road
Lower Park Road, from its junction with Victoria Crescent to its junction with Elizabeth Crescent
Grosvenor Park Road, from the junction of the A51 to the junction of The Headlands
Traffic diverted from Lower Bridge Street and Handbridge should proceed via Grosvenor Street, Grosvenor Road and Overleigh Road. Traffic diverted from Chester Road, Churton should proceed via Sibbersfield Lane, Barton Road/High Street and Churton Road, Farndon.
Pedestrian access to premises situated on or adjacent to the above roads will be maintained at all times.
