PASSENGERS travelling on train routes between Chester and Crewe have been advised to expect significant disruption until at least midday today (Sunday, June 2).

A recent update from National Rail states that several routes will be affected due to a safety inspection of the track which required some lines to be closed.

Trains running between Chester and Crewe may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.

The problem will affect Avanti West Coast trains between Chester/Wrexham General and London Euston and also between Holyhead and Crewe/London Euston.

Transport for Wales services between Milford Haven/Swansea/Cardiff Central/Holyhead/Shrewsbury/ Chester and Crewe will also be affected.

Transport for Wales is managing a rail replacement service between Chester and Crewe.

Passengers are being advised to check routes before travelling and that compensation may be available if they experience delays.
