A number of top pop acts will be performing at this year's Chester Pride festival.

The annual event has become renowned as the city's most colourful celebration, with this year's LGBTQ+-friendly event taking place on Saturday, August 17.

And in a promotional video for this year's festival, which will once again be hosted at Castle Square, a range of popstars will be taking to the stage.

Headlining this year's festival is Louise, whose Greatest Hits album was released last year.

Other stars who will take to the M&S Bank Main Stage main stage include Romanian singing duo The Cheeky Girls, X Factor winner Shayne Ward and 90s dance stars Alex Party.

Further entertaining the crowds will be Sharon Wallace, Jan George, Ella Grace, Shagger, Baga Chipz and Kym Mazelle.

There will also be tribute acts Beyoncé by Leanne and Young Elton.

The afternoon of music acts from 1-8pm forms just a part of the Chester Pride event, which includes a city centre parade and a range of other activities, including the Chester Pride Dance Tent, Youth Pride, food and drink stalls and an alcohol-free chillout zone.

People are invited to attend the rainbow Tearooms on Lower Bridge Street on Saturday, June 15 at 10am for a pre-Pride meet-up designed for LGBTQ+ families looking to connect with other families ahead of the parade. Attendees can enjoy creating a special rainbow families flag or have a chat over a cup of coffee in a safe and relaxing environment.

A fundraising event titled Drag-a-Licious Bingo will be held at Chester Town Hall on Friday, June 21. Hosted by Miss Hertz and Miss Cherry Good, the event, presented by the Chester and Cheshire West Council LGBT staff network, features a house cash prize of £250 plus plenty of other prizes donated by local businesses.
