Bear Inns is set to sponsor this year's cricket and lunch gala at Cholmondeley Castle, supporting Lord’s Taverners charity.

The popular event, now sponsored by the hospitality group, which operates The Swan at Tarporley, The Lion at Malpas, and Bradwall Bakehouse, will take place on June 28, and it is one of the charity’s summer highlights in the North West.

Last year, the charity event attracted nearly 600 attendees and raised more than £70,000.

Donations will go towards the Lord’s Taverners cricket programmes, aimed at helping young people tackle inequality and reach their potential.

The founder and director of Bear Inns, Woody Barlow, said: "We are delighted to be sponsoring this hugely popular local, sporting event and to be helping the Lord’s Taverners charity.

"Community is at the heart of the hospitality we offer, so we are delighted to support the work the charity is doing to unite communities in the drive to overcome inequalities."

Bear Inns' sponsorship commitment for the next three years was also met warmly by the Lord’s Taverners.

A trustee and chair of the North West regional volunteers said: "We’re incredibly grateful to Bear Inns for their commitment to supporting this prestigious event for the next three years.

"Their support will enable us to impact even more young people with a disability and from disadvantaged communities through our programmes in the North West, something everyone who attends this event at Cholmondeley Castle each year are very passionate about supporting."
