The main sponsor for the 2024 Green Expo UK which is being held in Chester, has been announced.

EET Fuels, a key part of Essar Energy Transition (EET,) will be the main sponsor of the event.

The event focuses on achievements towards net-zero, as well as what a carbon neutral future will look like for both organisations and individuals.

The annual expo, in its third year, will feature a Photography Competition, a Youth Conference at the University of Chester on June 14, and a spectacular exposition at the Innovation Zone in Grosvenor Park on June 15-16.

A special awards dinner will conclude the event on November 14.

EET Fuels is making significant investment in the North West area to reduce their emissions and help decarbonise the region.

They are doing that by switching to low carbon hydrogen, and switching to industrial carbon capture,

Michelle Lewis, corporate affairs director of EET Fuels said: "Last year we were proud to win the 2023 Green Expo Cheshire & Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership Award for Inward Investment as we plan to reduce Stanlow site’s emissions by 95% this decade."

Ms Lewis also explained: "We are supporting Green Expo this year with its Youth Conference for schools and colleges on June 14th.

"We’re working with the University of Chester, local colleges and schools to develop the skills needed now and for a net-zero future and to recognise innovation."

Meanwhile, the project director of Green Expo, Jane Harrad-Roberts, expressed her delight.

She said: "We are really pleased to be able to count EET Fuels as our Green Expo Main Sponsor for 2024 and look forward to partnering with them to promote all the work taking place in the North West on climate change towards net-zero."
