A Chester based theatre company, which was founded five years ago is set to stage its 10th production.
Against The Grain is returning to the stage with an original play, 'Curtains', authored by company co-founders, Stuart Evans and Mark Newman.
The play will be running at St Mary's Creative Space from Monday, July 1 to Friday, July 5 at 7.30pm.
'Curtains' is an off-stage drama revolving around a troupe of actors.
The company first stepped into the limelight at Storyhouse back in 2019, presenting 'Worldly Women'.
They have since staged productions at various venues, including Chester Little Theatre and The Live Rooms.
Mr Evans and Mr Newman draw on their 50-year long theatrical experience for their maiden script collaboration.
The play tells the tail of actors Dominic and Percival.
Two actors who cross paths during auditions, form a close bond, and wait for their big break, swapping stories and gripes all along.
Due to casting issues, Mr Evans and Mr Newman themselves were reluctantly drafted to portray Dominic and Percival, rounding off an eight-member cast.
Director Marian Newman said: "Drawing on their 21+ years of experience working together in local theatre, Stuart and Mark have created a touching and funny play which reveals a great deal about the intrigue that goes on backstage, which is often a mystery to many audiences."
Ms Newman added: "If you thought it was all glamour, think again, the play shows many of the hopes, dreams, aspirations and disappointments which are all part of an actor's life. "
