NEW data has revealed the roads in Cheshire West and Chester where motorists experience the longest delays.

Whether its due to accidents, flooding, road works or congestion, travelling through the borough can sometimes be frustrating, especially if you’re stuck on one of these routes.

A new Road Delay Report has been compiled by Cromwell Trucks and Online Marketing Surgery using data from Gov.uk.

The new report outlines the roads where motorists are waiting the most/least on their travels.

Motorways and major A roads

Some of the most heavily delayed routes are, as you might expect, motorways and major A roads.

Their convenience means that thousands of motorists use these every day.

The most delayed route in the area is judged to be the A483 northbound, specifically between the B5445 and A55, to the south of Chester. It typically takes motorists 91.2 seconds to travel one mile.

The second and third most congested routes both feature the A41 westbound, first between the A550 and B5133 and then between B5133 and M53, both of these are located near Hooton and Ellesmere Port. Motorists typically do a mile in 72.4 and 54.6 seconds respectively.

Local routes

Some of the longest waits come on traffic-clogged local routes, including some smaller A roads.

Those driving around Chester city centre are in for the heaviest delays on the A5268, otherwise known as Pepper Street, which takes the average motorist 160.2 seconds to travel one mile.

Not far from the city centre, the A5115 (Whitchurch Road) takes second place for the longest delays, with motorists traversing a mile in 87.7 seconds on average.

The A483 Wrexham Road rounds out the top three, with a time of 68.6 seconds per mile.
