Youngsters from Little Sutton are set to take part in an African drum session that has been funded by a Cheshire business.

The session for pupils at The Star Factory has been funded by Cheshire housebuilder Redrow, is one part of four art workshops booked in.

The Star Factory, based at the Little Sutton Community Centre since 2012, provides subsidised classes in singing, dance, drama, and musical theatre.

James Wilson, owner of The Star Factory, said: "We love to be able to offer our children new experiences but to do that we need help from the local community.

"We have children from all walks of life, but our aim is to give every young person the same opportunities.

"Redrow’s donation meant that we have been able to book in the first workshop, an African drum session in June, to teach the children about other cultures and their arts and dance styles."

Redrow’s donation also covered coach hire and registration fees allowing the children to participate in Young Voices, the world’s largest children’s choir, in Manchester.

Caroline Thompson-Jones, area sales manager at Redrow NW, said: "The Star Factory does great work with young people and opens their eyes to new opportunities.

"The workshop will have added to their knowledge of dances from across the world and we’re really pleased that we could help fund this."
