A FIRE crew was called to an area of woodland yesterday (Sunday, June 9) after a smouldering tree was discovered.
Firefighters arrived at the scene near Duke’s Drive, Handbridge at around 11.15am.
The crew damped down the hollowed-out tree before using an axe to expose and cut away affected bark.
Hazard tape was erected around the tree.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service say both the police and the council have been notified of the incident.
