WHAT better way to finish Delamere Forest Live 2024 than with the legend that is, Bryan Adams.
The Canadian rock star, one of the most successful recording artists of all-time, joined the many big names to have performed at Delamere as part of the hugely successful Forest Live music series.
Taking to the stage in the beautiful natural woodland arena, Adams wrapped up the 2024 shows in spectacular fashion last night (Sunday, June 16), following on from performances by Becky Hill (Thursday), Sting (Friday) and Nile Rodgers & Chic (Saturday).
Hailing from Ontario, Canada, Adams started off as the singer in a glam-rock band, Sweeney Todd, before striking out on his own and going on to pen some of the biggest hits of the 80s and 90s including the epic ‘Everything I Do (I Do It For you)', ‘Heaven’, ‘Cloud Number 9’, ‘Run To You’, ‘Straight From The Heart’, 'Please Forgive Me’, ‘When You’re Gone’ (featuring Melanie C), and the globally celebrated anthem ‘Summer of ‘69’.
The stage was set for him to bring some of the greatest hits of his more than 40-year career to the beautiful forest setting, as well as playing songs from his latest studio album, ‘So Happy It Hurts’.
Following support acts Vivas and Cassyette, the rock legend kicked off with 'Kick Ass', 'Can't Stop This Thing We Started' and 'Somebody'.
And they just kept coming - '18 Till I Die, 'One Night Love Affair' and 'Take Me Back', with his phenomenal band, particularly guitarist Keith Scott, by his side.
'Kids Wanna Rock' and the beautiful 'Heaven' followed and he made sure everyone was dancing to 'You Belong To Me' - even if they had to "twerk"!
But when it came to ‘Everything I Do (I Do It For you), he had the crowd mesmerised, it was quite simply stunning.
'So Happy It Hurts', 'Run To You', 'Summer of '69', 'Cuts Like a Knife' and 'When Your Gone' were all in there with hit after hit delighting the crowd - we were in Heaven!
As the superb, epic set drew to a close, the last track of the night, 'Straight From The Heart', which he wrote when he was 18, was dedicated to his 96 year old mum.
Fans wanting more won’t have to wait long to see Adams in the region again as those lucky enough to have tickets will see him perform the headline concert as part of the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod tomorrow (Tuesday, June, 18).
