A POPULAR restaurant in a Chester suburb is celebrating after being featured in the Good Food Guide.

The team at the Sticky Walnut in Hoole took to social media to reveal the news.

A spokesperson for the venue, which is celebrating 14 years in business, posted on X, formerly Twitter: "Proud to make it into The Good Food Guide! Thank you to our incredible team and loyal customers!"

The Sticky Walnut has also been closed for about two weeks while the kitchen area was refurbished thanks to a crowdfunding campaign.

The old gas fuelled kitchen has been replaced with a modern electric one.

The award-winning restaurant was the first of Elite Bistros seven successful North West restaurants which also include the likes of the recently reopened White Horse Pub in Churton.

The Sticky Walnut was opened by chef Gary Usher in 2011.

Elite Bistros is one of the pioneers of the crowdfunding model within the hospitality industry, with each of their restaurants after Sticky Walnut using contributions from the public in order to refurbish their units.

The White Horse Pub, their most recent new location, opened in March last year following a £200,000 crowdfunding campaign.

The dining area and the exterior of the Sticky Walnut have also been given a spruce -up as part of the refurbishment.
