A lane remains closed on the A55 in Chester today (Monday, June 24) following a vehicle fire yesterday evening.

The incident happened on the northbound carriageway between Junctions 39 and 40, with the Junction 40 turn-off (A51) being closed while emergency teams dealt with the fire.

National Highways reported three miles of congestion with 30-minute delays at about 6pm on Sunday.

While the vehicle has since been cleared, there remains a lane closure due to damage caused to the road surface.

Posting on social media, National Highways North-West said: "The lane closure will remain in place until tomorrow night [Monday], when resurfacing works will take place following damage sustained from the fire."
