Residents at a Chester care home pulled out all of the stops for their team leader, as they hosted a hen party for her.

The residents of Care UK’s Deewater Grange, on Chester Road, put together a wonderful celebration for Sophie Harrison, who is about to tie the knot.

Aged 87, Beryl Brassington and the other ladies at the care home set out to make the party memorable.

They decked the walls with ribbons, banners, and engagement ring-shaped balloons.

The head chef, who also happens to be the groom, Lloyd Harrison, along with the residents, prepared alcohol-free champagne and wedding-themed cupcakes.

The residents, wearing 'team bride’ sashes, enjoyed hen do games such as 'bingo' and 'pin the ring on the bride's finger.'

Ms Brassington said: "It was such a pleasure to be part of Sophie’s hen party celebration.

"We had a fun day in our bridal sashes, and the cupcakes from the chef were fantastic!

"All of us here wish them the absolute best for their married life together."

She also recalled her own wedding plans, noting that hen parties have certainly changed, becoming busier compared to the old quiet, family-oriented gatherings.

Ms Harrison said: "It was so special to share the build-up to my big day with our residents.

"They all had a fabulous time!"

Home manager, Sally Cooper added: "The ladies had so much fun helping Sophie get ready for her big day, and enjoyed the party games with plenty of good music.

"Here at Deewater Grange, we are always looking for an excuse to host a party and celebrate important milestones with residents, and Sophie and Lloyd’s wedding was no exception.

"The occasion was also a perfect chance for residents to reminisce about their own hen dos and weddings, which brought back lots of happy memories.

“It’s easy to see just how much Sophie and Lloyd adore each other, and we are honoured to play a part in it.

"Cheers to many years of happy marriage, and congratulations!”
