Young artists at a school in Chester have been treated to a visit from a designer for large high street companies.

The Firs School welcomed Roselle Smeatham, a product designer for retailers like Dunelm.

Ms Smeatham shared with the children her design process and how she creates original designs, before showing her final products.

The students were thrilled to spot her work on the Dunelm website.

They then had a chance to make some of their own, and created some pieces of work.

Mr Girvan, head teacher at The Firs School, said: "The children really enjoyed hearing about Roselle's experience and had lots of questions about how she had got into her career and what she loves about it.

"They also enjoyed hearing about the process and relished the opportunity to develop some designs of their own using watercolour techniques demonstrated by Roselle in her signature style.

"Well done to everyone involved and a big thank you to Roselle for giving up her time to share some new skills with us at The Firs School."
