A PUB has enjoyed a successful start to life since reopening under a new name.

Anthology in Wilmslow has reopened as The Swan Inn following a £170,000 investment.

Licensees Lisa Salter and Lee Montgomery decided to change the name as a nod to the pub’s history as The Swan Hotel, as well as its location on Swan Street.

“The history of this pub and its role in the community is important to us," said Lee and Lisa, who also run the Dog and Partridge in Didsbury and The Crown in Heaton Moor.

"So, as a mark of respect to this, we felt it was right to rename the pub The Swan Inn.

“By renaming the pub The Swan Inn, we have given a nod to the history of this site, which is really important to us and the local community.”

Greene King has splashed £170,000 on upgrading the pub both inside and out.

Inside, the bar has been fully upgraded with a new booth seating area which will serve as a dining area for customers who want to enjoy the new food offering, which includes both pub classics and dishes from around the world.

Outside, the old beer terrace in the pub has been transformed into a fully-fledged beer garden, with TVs and enough seating for around 80 people.

Having opened at the end of May, things couldn’t have gone much better so far.

John Auld, business development manager for Greene King Pub Partners, said:

“Lisa and Lee are great pub operators – their success in the pub trade to date speaks for itself – so I am delighted to have partnered with them to turn The Anthology into The Swan Inn.

“Thanks to the joint £170,000 investment, the pub has been fully upgraded and is now a great spot for a pint, food, entertainment and community events.

“The pub prides itself on a warm and friendly service and with the Euros and summer upon us, I am sure the people of Wilmslow will be making the most of its brilliant new beer garden!”
