A LUXURIOUS city centre restaurant in Chester has announced its shock closure after just five months of trading.

Boheme, located on Bridge Street, had been highly anticipated before its launch in February and had become one of the city’s most popular establishments, culminating in an entry into the latest Michelin Guide.

The all-day dining concept, put together by long-time business partners Andi Lowe-Smith and Ben Isles, offered a wide range of dishes and drinks from breakfast pastries to refined evening meals with signature cocktails.

However, last night (Monday, July 1), the restaurant posted a farewell message on social media.

It read: “Thank you to all of our wonderful staff and customers who have supported Boheme. We’ve had an amazing time and enjoyed our past 5 months of service. It’s been a blast and we wouldn’t have missed it for the world! There are lots of successes, beautiful memories and friendships to take from Boheme. The laughter, the smiles and the sunshine that’s come through these doors will never be forgotten.

“Thank you to our fabulous team who are the heart and soul of this creative place, we couldn’t have done it without you.

“’Thank you so much everyone. Wow it’s hard work running a restaurant. I’m knackered.’ Ben Iles

“Boheme x.”

Many people were quick to express their sadness at the news.

One person said: “Goodness how sad! All the work and love you have put into that beautiful place. I don't know what to say. So sorry.”

Another was shocked by the timing of the announcement.

“Oh no, this is devastating! What on earth happened?”

Several Chester businesses also sent messages of support and understanding.

The Arthouse said: “We’re really sorry to hear this. You help lift the quality of options on the street so it will be sad to see you closed.

“On a more personal note we’re really sad for the both of you that you never got to see it hit its true potential. We can relate to the effort you’ve put in to it and the stress and cost to you and those around you.”

The Bear Bakery said: “A sad loss to so many involved. Best of luck to everyone in their next ventures.”

Stile Napoletano added: “Only applause for those who are trying, despite not needing it, to create something beautiful for Chester, with the investment spent you could have opened in a much larger market, but instead you decided to do it in your Chester. It's a loss for the whole community, thanks again for believing in it.”
