A 50-YEAR-old Wirral man died at Chester Racecourse, an inquest opening heard.
On Wednesday, an inquest into the death of John Dawson was formally opened.
Warrington Coroner’s Court heard how Mr Dawson, of Stavordale Road, Moreton, had been at the racecourse with his carer.
Here, he was fed thickened yoghurt and began struggling to breathe.
The court was told how medical staff "were with him quickly", but they were not able to clear his airway to allow him to breathe.
He sadly died at the racecourse.
Due to Mr Dawson’s cause of death being an unnatural one, senior coroner for Cheshire Jacqueline Devonish formally opened an inquest.
Ms Devonish set an inquest date for October.
