Plans to convert the former Geek Retreat venue in Chester city centre to a bar have been submitted to the council.
Applications have been lodged with Cheshire West and Chester Council's planning and licensing departments to change the use of what had also previously been a betting shop into a "higher end drinking establishment also serving food".
The name of the bar is yet to be confirmed, but the applicants are proposing late-night hours until midnight on most days, except for Friday and Saturday nights, when the premises would be open until 1am.
Within the licensing application, it is stated the bar would be on one floor, below Chester Rows and the bar Liquor & Co.
Food and drink would be sold via table service primarily, with limited vertical drinking space to the rear of the venue.
A planning statement sent to the local authority says there would be no internal or external alterations to the building, with minimal internal reconfiguration of the internal floorspace.
Applicants added: "The proposed change of use to a drinking establishment with food provision would bring a vacant unit into beneficial use that would support the vitality and viability of the primary shopping area in the city centre."
The plans are available to view on the council's planning portal.
