THE STANDARD hosted its second annual Education Awards on Friday, July 12, as we celebrated the work of those from Cheshire West’s school community.
At a ceremony at the city’s Hilton DoubleTree Hotel, broadcaster and journalist Lucy Meacock was on hand to present the lucky winners with their awards.
Our Primary School Pupil of the Year for 2024 was described as an “always child”, always well behaved, always caring and always positive.
She has overcome the daunting task of moving schools this year and has thrived in her new surroundings.
Our winner is Freya Morris of Parklands Community Primary and Nursery School.
The award, which is sponsored this year by North West Academies Trust, was presented to Freya by Michael Forber.
Freya said that it was “exciting” to win the award and that although moving school had been difficult, she had now made "lots of new friends."
Despite the change, she added that it had been “very important” to keep a smile on her face.
Freya's dad Christopher said via Facebook:
"Super proud of Freya winning her award tonight. I would be lying if I said I wasn't crying a bit.
"Onwards and upwards girl, love you."
