A "POLICE incident" ground traffic to a halt on the M56 near Chester this afternoon (Saturday, July 13).
The incident occurred between the M53 junction and J14 A5117 (Chester Services / Helsby).
Traffic montioring service Inrix stated: "M56 Eastbound partially blocked delays, queueing traffic due to police incident from J15 M53 J11 to J14 A5117 (Chester Services / Helsby). Westbound carriageway has been released."
Latest reports state that the incident is now over and traffic has returned to normal.
Witnesses state that the incident involved a concern for a person's safety, but that it was safely resolved.
