A CHILD-FRIENDLY version of a popular obstacle course challenge is coming to Cheshire later this year.
Cholmondeley Castle will host Lidl Mudder, a kids-only version of Tough Mudder - a race which sees participants take on a series of mud-filled obstacles over a ten-mile course.
Lidl Mudder, which is suitable for children aged five to 12, will be a one-mile course but will still feature a variety of obstacles based on its bigger brother’s most popular aspects.
To get to the finish line youngsters will have to crawl through tight spaces, swing across monkey bars and climb over cargo nets, all while getting wet and muddy.
At the end, children will receive a Lidl Mudder headband.
Lidl Mudder and Tough Mudder participants will also be helping to raise money for the NSPCC’s Childline service.
Tania Oliveira, NSPCC North West community fundraising manager, said: “We’re delighted to be teaming up with Lidl GB to bring to families the Lidl Mudder challenge.
“By signing up for the Lidl Mudder, you’ll be fundraising for our vital Childline service and making sure every child has the chance to be heard.
“On average, a young person contacts Childline every 45 seconds and just £4 could pay for a Childline counsellor to be there, ready to listen when a child’s ready to talk about their worries and fears.”
Lidl Mudder at Cholmondeley Castle takes place on October 19 and 20.
Children taking part must be at least 1.1m tall and, while parents and carers do not need to run the course, they must be in attendance for the duration of their child’s run.
Participants can sign up for £20 at toughmudder.co.uk/mud-obstacle-runs-for-kids and then start fundraising by setting up a JustGiving page linked to Lidl Mudder 2024.
