POLICE have provided an update after a man was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.
It comes after a pensioner died following reports of an altercation on a bus in Warrington.
At around 7pm on Saturday, July 13, police were called to Cotswold Road in Orford.
This came following reports that there had been an altercation between two men on the 6.40pm number 20 bus travelling from Warrington Bus Station to Poplars Avenue.
One of the men, a 74-year-old, had collapsed. He was taken to hospital but sadly died.
A 48-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of manslaughter, the force has confirmed.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said yesterday, Sunday, that enquiries were continuing into the circumstances, and it appealed for witnesses to come forward.
In an update today, the spokesman confirmed: “Following the arrest made in relation to the incident on Cotswold Road, Warrington, on Saturday, July 13, a 48-year-old man has since been released on conditional bail.”
In a statement on Sunday, DI Dave Hutcheon added: “We are keen to speak to any witnesses on the bus who have yet to come forward, so that we can get a clear picture of the events leading up to the man’s death.
“I would urge them to come forward by either visiting cheshire.police.uk//tell-us or ringing 101, quoting IML 1869876.”
