Action-packed summer activities are planned for children at West Cheshire museums.

Both Chester and Northwich museums have organised fun programmes during the school holidays.

Starting from the last week of July and stretching through August, activities for kids are plentiful.

At the Grosvenor Museum in Chester, free programmes linked to a major exhibition on Regency artist George Cuitt are being held.

Children can learn how to make Gorgeous Georgian Pockets.

They can also get creative by making decorations for the museum's own Wonderful Wizard Tree, inspired by the classic film, The Wizard of Oz.

The free activities run on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Meanwhile in Northwich, the Lion Salt Works and Weaver Hall museums will host various activities based in nature, art, craft, science, and technology.

These sessions, billed as Northwich Explorers, cater to a wide range of interests.

Held on Wednesdays at Weaver Hall and Fridays at the Lion Salt Works at 11am, 12 noon, and 1pm, they feature interesting stuff such as investigating fossils, making a clay character from history or films, making rubber band powered vehicles, and playing with slime!

You can book a place on any of the Northwich Explorers sessions for £5 at Weaver Hall Museum and the Lion Salt Works.

The Council’s cabinet member for Fairer Futures, Councillor Lisa Denson was excited about these initiatives.

Ms Denson said: "This year’s summer holiday activities programme is amazing.

"Our hands-on events will inspire the whole family and really bring our museum collections and exhibitions to life.

"We have everything covered with nature, art, craft, science, and technology-based activities available.

"It’s a wonderful to be able to introduce children to history and heritage in such a fun way."
