CHESTER FC have reversed a fixture which would have otherwise seen both them and Wrexham play in the same city, on the same day.
Last week, the Leader reported that the two clubs were both scheduled to play in Peterborough on Saturday, August 31.
Wrexham are set to play at Peterborough United that day, while Chester were also booked in at Peterborough Sports on the same date.
There is, of course, no love lost between the two sides who have clashed in several cross-border derbies down the years.
So, it was a surprise to many to find that they had been scheduled to play in the same place, at the same time.
The English Football League had told the Leader that there were not yet any plans in place to change Wrexham's fixture.
However, Chester FC have now confirmed that their clash has been reversed in order to avoid the two clubs meeting in Peterborough.
🔁 We can confirm our 2024/25 National League North fixtures against @psfcturbines have been reversed.

📅 This means our first meeting on Saturday 31st August will now be at the Deva Stadium, with the return match at PIMS Park on Saturday 1st February.
A statement from the club read: "We can confirm our 2024/25 National League North fixtures against @psfcturbines have been reversed.
"This means our first meeting on Saturday 31st August will now be at the Deva Stadium, with the return match at PIMS Park on Saturday 1st February."
Blues vice-chairman Jim Green said: "It was clear when the fixtures were published that this was the most sensible solution with both ourselves and Wrexham due to be playing in Peterborough on the same day.
“We’re pleased it has been resolved quickly to ensure clarity for our supporters and grateful to Peterborough Sports for their co-operation.”
