A Chester primary school is celebrating after winning high praise from Ofsted inspectors.
Guilden Sutton Church of England Primary School continues to be named Outstanding in the latest Ofsted report, maintaining the top rating it earned at the school's previous September 2017 inspection.
A thorough two-day inspection, where the views of children, staff, parents and governors were sought, highlighted that pupils are 'proud to be members of this school, which sits at the heart of its community.' Ofsted Parent View reported that 100% of families would recommend the school to other parents.
Headteacher Theresa Rainford said: "This validation only confirms what a special place this school is, making it a pleasure to come to work every day. This is the reason I have worked at the school for 17 years."
Ofsted inspectors noted: "Pupils come into school happily each morning. Pupils, and their parents and carers, receive a warm welcome from staff at the start of each day. Pupils are proud to be members of this school, which sits at the heart of its community."
The children at Guilden Sutton ‘are not fazed by challenge, inspectors added. Indeed, "they relish thinking hard" and "pupils' positive attitudes to learning are underpinned by their desire to 'give it a go and never give up'."
The school wants all learners to flourish spiritually, emotionally and academically throughout life, living out love and justice for all. Children at Guilden Sutton are encouraged to recognise that making mistakes is an essential part of the learning process. This was reflected in the report which stated: "resilience is developed from a young age and children are readily engaged in their learning."
The headteacher is extremely proud that the school's "high expectations of all pupils" and their "exemplary behaviour" were recognised to be key strengths, and that all pupils are consistently "polite and courteous".
At Guilden Sutton the safety and welfare of students is paramount. The report found that, ‘the arrangements for safeguarding are effective’.
Inspectors also noted: "Pupils are supported to become active citizens. For example, the choir sings to local residents and eco-ambassadors organise litter picking in the community.
"Older pupils relish the time that they spend on residential visits. They enjoy taking part in new challenges such as kayaking and climbing.
"Pupils also make their own meals and tidy up. They recognise that these are important life skills."
The headteacher thanks everyone for their unwavering commitment to making Guilden Sutton Church of England Primary School the wonderful family it is!
