THERE was plenty of love from Standard readers for our winner of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award, Headteacher of Dee Point Primary, Dave Williams.
Dave was announced as the recipient of this award on Friday, July 12 at a special ceremony for the Standard Education Awards at the DoubleTree Hotel in Chester.
His achievement was also featured in print as part of our supplement, and online last week.
On social media, dozens of people liked and commented, from a simple "well done" to heartfelt messages of appreciation from parents and carers, and colleagues.
Readers were quick to congratulate Dave on his incredible career in education - which we should add is still ongoing - and to pass on their thanks and praise for the work that he has done as part of the borough’s fantastic education community.
Commenting on Facebook, Debbie Morgan said: “Fantastic Dave Williams, a great teacher and role model, one of the best heads I’ve had the privilege to work for! Congratulations Sir.”
Rachael Wright said: “The absolute best of the best! He truly deserves this. I've never known a person so dedicated to their job. He goes above and beyond. An absolute privilege to have my children at that school. Congratulations Mr Williams!”

Many parents also noted the profound effect that he had had in making school an enjoyable and exciting place to come to each day.
Carolyn Ferris said: “He taught my kids when he was deputy head at JH Godwin school, an inspirational teacher! This award is so well deserved. Congratulations Mr Williams.”
Aliysa Fitzpatrick said: “As a parent this man is one of the best in the country for you children and he does deserve this award in more ways than one. He excels in his job but most of all he makes them children want to go to school and want to be around him. He really goes out of his way for every single pupil in his school, he is one heck of a teacher with the greatest personality ever. Well done Mr Williams, very pleased your work has been recognised for all you do for them kids.”
Amanda Porter added: “There wouldn’t be anyone else more deserving in my opinion. He completely changed my son’s perception of school and also made the whole experience enjoyable for us all as a family! Well done Mr Williams, you’re an absolute hero!! Keep on working your magic.”
As part of the presentation, friends and colleagues came together in a special celebratory video clip, which you can now watch above.
Congratulations once again to Mr Williams and all of this year’s winners and finalists.
