Youngsters at a Chester school have raised hundreds of pounds for a local good cause.
Class 5 at Grosvenor Park Academy has been working towards the Youth Trust Award. This is a scheme set up by the Archbishop of York to help young people develop skills for the future and make valued contributions to their community.
For the community action part of this award, the class decided to raise money for a local charity who helps homeless and vulnerable people in Chester – Soul Kitchen.
Youngsters hosted an after-school fair, selling cakes, homemade jewellery, lemonade, face painting and games. When the money was added up at the end of the day, the class had raised just over £300.
A school spokesperson said: "We are very proud of our achievements, the money is going directly to help people within our local community and we hope to work with Soul Kitchen again in the future."
