A Chester-based children's disability charity has received a vital boost.
Children Today Charitable Trust has been given a £625 donation from Deva Masonic Lodge No 3447.
The children’s disability charity, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, was delighted to be chosen by Deva Masonic Lodge, which is based in Christleton, to receive the award.
In addition, the Deva Masonic Lodge has given the charity an extra boost with the presentation of a £100 gift voucher for Clarks shoe retailer to be used as a raffle prize, to help raise more funds.
Emma Prescott, charity director at Children Today, said: “We’re extremely grateful for the support from the Deva Masonic Lodge. It’s becoming increasingly challenging to raise sufficient funds while more and more families who need our support, so donations like these go a long way to helping children and families who so desperately need our help.”
The Chester-based charity will use the funds to continue supporting disabled children and their families, with life-changing adapted equipment – including but not limited to adapted trikes, adapted buggies and sensory equipment – and support services.
Emma added: “The additional cost associated with raising a child with a disability combined with a cost-of-living crisis means that so often families are unable to afford vital equipment that can be transformational for a disabled child, and often the wider family too.
“An adapted buggy or adapted trike can be a lifeline to spending more time together as a family outdoors and provide essential exercise. While sensory equipment can help a child to manage and self-regulate behaviour, which in turn can have a huge impact on family dynamics. It cannot be underestimated how important having the right equipment is.”
Worshipful Brother, Alan Johnson, of Deva Masonic Lodge said: "Myself and Worshipful Brother, Charles McIlwrick, a past Master of Deva Lodge, were delighted to come along and meet the very dedicated team at Children Today and present the cheque and Clarks gift voucher on behalf of all the brethren of Deva Lodge."
