A ‘VERY rare’ 50p coin with King Charles III’s face on it is for sale for a huge profit on eBay.
The coin is listed on the online marketplace by a seller based in Runcorn for a whopping £7,500.
This means it is up for 15,000 times its face value of 50p.
The listing reads: “This is a very rare uncrowned King Charles III 50p coin, minted in the United Kingdom in 2022.
“The coin features a pre-coronation design and is made of 0.999 fineness. It is ungraded and uncertified, making it a unique addition to any coin collection.
“The coin's attributes include a denomination of 50p, era of pre-coronation king Charles, featuring the unique bird nestled within King Charles III’s ear. The country of origin being Great Britain. It is a great investment opportunity for any coin collector or enthusiast.”
A quick glance on eBay reveals sellers in Warrington are selling the same coin for varying prices, with some listed for £250, some for £2,000, and some for £5.99.
Talking about this coin, the Royal Mint website reads: “Struck to commemorate the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the Memorial Proof Sovereign 2022 is the first Sovereign to bear the official coinage portrait of King Charles III and charts his transition from the longest-serving heir apparent in British history to monarch.
“This is now a Royal Mint sell out individually, so this set is the only way you can purchase this coin through the official home of UK coins.”
The referred to set is priced at £1,895 for three coins on the Royal Mint website.
