A second community dog show is being hosted by Runcorn and Helsby MP Mike Amesbury.

It will take place at Runcorn’s Phoenix Park on Saturday, August 3, between 10am and 2pm, following last year’s successful event.

Members of the public are welcome to enter their beloved pooches for categories that include cutest old timer, best trick, grumpiest face and best rescue dog.

Charities, local groups and businesses are also invited to register an interest in having a stand at the show, free-of-charge (not food and drink).

Exhibitors confirmed include Guide Dogs for the Blind, RSPCA, Bindi’s Lost and Found, Pinwheel Pets, Lunch with Lucy, Windmill Hill Big Local, Beyond the Veil, handmade ceramics by Caroline Kisielewicz and Bonnie Bear Boutique. Runcorn Four Paws Dog Training will hold an obedience display to music.

Mike Amesbury, whose cockapoo won the people’s vote in the Westminster Dog of the Year contest 2018, said: "Last year’s community dog show was a lovely occasion so we’ve decided to hold another one.

"And with animal welfare groups represented at the event, the day promises to be fun with a purpose. I’d like to invite owners and their dogs, plus stallholders, to get involved. Everyone is welcome. Humans and canines alike!"

Prizes are being donated by Hessey’s Happy Hounds, professional dog walkers and trainers operating in Runcorn and surrounding area and Safe4 disinfectants of Winsford.
