BUILDING work has begun on a new Metro Bank which is set to open on Foregate Street in Chester next year.
The new store is expected to be completed by June 2025 and will be one of two new stores – the other location in Gateshead – which will be added to the 76 current sites across the country.
The unit at 23-25 Foregate Street has previously been home to H. Samuel and was more recently a store offering phone repairs and accessories.
Metro Bank say the location will combine face-to-face banking with state-of-the-art technology, providing local residents and businesses with a customer-focused and convenient banking experience.
Metro Bank customers will be able to visit their store and open a personal or business account on-the-spot along with their internet and mobile banking set-up. Customers can even bring their dog along as each store has water bowls, complimentary treats and bandanas for their furry visitors.
Each store offers traditional banking services, however every local business choosing Metro Bank will benefit from a personal business manager to support them.
The bank say that their management team has been working hard in the Chester area and has secured new business customers already – everything from bridal boutiques to law firms.
Metro Bank also offers a specific community current account to sport charities, clubs and societies.
Gary Owens, Metro Bank’s Chester Local Director, said: “We are excited to be able to build our brand and offer our award-winning approach to banking to Chester residents and businesses.
“As a community bank, our store colleagues will reflect the communities they came from offering local expert knowledge and support.”
