A team from a Chester-based business has raised £2,500 for the Alder Hey Children’s Charity by participating in the Coniston Challenge.

This six-person team from BusinessComparison, an online comparison site for UK business services, passed their initial goal of £2,000 and received donations from 70 supporters on JustGiving.

This is the first year the company joined this event, organised by the charity linked to one of Britain’s largest children’s hospitals.

Philip Brennan, Founder and MD at BusinessComparison said: "We’ve been long supporters of Hope House and Ty Gobaith and sponsors of a local grassroots football team, so we were all up for a new challenge to raise funds for Alder Hey Children’s Charity – an incredible organisation and a very worthy cause."

He also added: "We’d also like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated and all of the support we received.

"Taking part in the Coniston Challenge was a true testament to our commitment to giving back to the community, and I know Nathan, Max, Ethan, Brad, Paul and Liam had a brilliant (but painful) time doing it!"

The Coniston Challenge is a "triathlon with a twist".

It includes an 11.8km hike to the summit of the Old Man of Coniston, a 15km cycle through Grizedale Forest, followed by a 3km canoe on Coniston Water in Cumbria.

The funds raised go toward Alder Hey Children’s Charity, which supports innovative medical equipment, facilities and research, ensuring a high standard of care for young patients and their families.

Mr Brennan finished by saying: "We believe in the power of community and the importance of giving back.

"Participating in the Coniston Challenge for Alder Hey Children’s Charity perfectly aligns with our core values and our passion for making a difference."
