CHESTER has been found to have one the most affordable service stations for fuel in the UK, with several other Northwest services also making the top 10.
High fuel prices are still a major concern for many motorists with searches for ‘lowest diesel prices near me’ surging in recent months by over 5,000 percent. This is alongside a 489 percent increase in ‘UK staycation’ searches.
For those who may be travelling up and down the country to get the most out of the summer sun, experts Moneybarn Car Finance has analysed average diesel prices to reveal the UK’s cheapest service stations for filling up while on the road.
Chester services on the M56 is among the most affordable locations to pick up fuel, with an average diesel price of 147.81p per litre.
In fact, a clutch of Northwest services were found to have the same average diesel price, including Burtonwood, Charnock Richard, Tebay, Birch, Southwaite, Lymm truckstop, and Killington Lake, and are located along the M6, M62, and M56 motorways. Filling up a 47-litre tank in this area would cost approximately £69.47*.
For those with petrol vehicles, the Northwest is the fourth cheapest area for petrol at services, behind Scotland, Yorkshire and the Humber and Wales. A litre of petrol will set you back 139.94p per litre on average.
